Welcome to the BMV2019 workshop on Object Detection and Recognition for Security Screening (ODRSS2019). The workshop will run on the afternoon of 12th September 2019, at the University of Cardiff, and we look forward to seeing you there!
Security in transportation systems and public places is recognised as a global research priority, and this workshop will bring together researchers working on (or interested in) the use of image analysis, computer vision and machine learning techniques for the detection and identification of threats, dangerous objects and other relevant objects of interest, for the purpose of security screening.
This includes, but is not limited to, analysis of image capture in the X-Ray spectrum. The workshop will enable participants to present and share current work in this area, share and exchange ideas for future innovation, and build potential partnerships for future work, funding applications, and commercialisation with academic and industry partners.
The programme will include approximately 6-7 research paper presentations, a guest speaker from the UK Home Office, and networking and project development opportunities.
Guest Speaker
Dr. Robert Kidd, from the UK Home Office. Robert has worked for the UK Home Office as a project mentor, and will talk about UK government perspectives and objectives on automated security.
